Was born in Santiago de los Caballeros,
Dominican Republic in 1946. He began his artistic career in 1969 by
joining Photographic Group Jueves'68.
Has been awarded twenty one National Prizes, among the First Prize in
Photography in the XV Biennial of Fine Arts in 1981 and First Prize in the
Contest Work Gestures at the Alliance Francaise in 1975. Among his
international awards are: First Prize in the contest celebrated by
Geomundo Magazine, U.S.A. in 1980; Second Prize in the contest The Sea and
its Environment in Cartagena, Spain in 1981 and Second Prize in the
contest Water, Vital Liquid celebrated by the Organization of American
States in Washington, D.C. in 1985. Has been selected as winner for six
consecutive years in the International Photographic Salon of Japan in
1985, 1986, 1987, 1988,1989 and 1990.
Has presented twenty nine individual exhibitions among which
most outstanding are Escritura de la Luz in Casa de Teatro in
1980, Individual 7 in Nouveau Art Gallery in 1984 and "XIII
Anniversary" in Casa de Bastidas in 1982, Santo Domingo. In
June 1988 presented his exhibition Dominican Color at the Yeshiva
University Museum in New York and in October 1989 his XX
individual exhibition "A los 20 años" at The Modern Art
Museum of Santo Domingo.
In 1996 presented "Del Territorio del Color" at Casa
de Teatro, in 1997 "Celebracion del Color" (Celebration
of Color) at the headquarters of the American States
Organization (OAS) in Washington D.C. and "Dominican
Photography" at the Casa del Libro of the Autonomous
University of Mexico.
